The work collaboration (2017-2018) is the result of De Wolf her research during a residency in Iran. From the political landscape, De Wolf re - interprets and articulates attitudes and customs that refer to gender, freedom of expression and collaboration. To do this, she unlinks and connects the material 'hair' in new patterns and structures; the threads of the social fabric.
Through a poetic translation of the shador, De Wolf emphasizes the game between a political and poetic statement. Sanne De Wolf made enlargements of a series of photographic images of 'hair' on textiles, which resulted in headscarves during her stay in Iran.
With the work Symmetry Sanne De Wolf questions the relationships between man and woman as a methapore; the Persian carpet, which is built up according to symmetrical principles. Collaboration shows a series of collected hairs of women from the Middle East. De Wolf sees especially women as the motor of the Middle Eastern society. The hair bundles are attached together with 24K gold leaf. The work refers to the energetic meaning of 'hair' in both Western and Eastern civilization. De Wolf emphasizes here the importance of connecting and empowerment.
